Lutgard Musiime, MPH
Nutrition Technical Officer, Uganda Consultant & Accordion
What I Do: As a Nutrition Technical Officer, I support the design and implementation of nutrition and feeding programs, including SPOON's digital health app (Count Me In) and research support. I facilitate training in disability programming and advocate for improved nutrition practices for children with disabilities and those outside of family care.
Background: I am a qualified nutritionist and dietitian with a master's degree in Public Health from Makerere University. I have 10 years of experience as an educator and strategist in disability-inclusive nutrition, nutrition therapy, and school feeding, advocating for better nutrition across different populations. I have also contributed to various public health outbreak investigations in the country. See my LinkedIn profile.
Why I SPOON: Disability was not a topic covered in nutrition school, but I remember that one week in July 2019 that transformed my work in nutrition and gave it purpose. As a result, I pursued an MPH with a focus on nutrition and disability. From that time, my interest in disability has grown, and I have become a big advocate for children with disabilities. I have seen firsthand how small and simple changes can make a BIG difference in their nutrition status and overall health.
