Lorna Mary Namususwa, MPH, PgD.PPM
Nutrition Technical Officer, Uganda Consultant
What I Do: As a Nutrition Technical Officer, I provide technical expertise in planning, implementing, and monitoring inclusive nutrition programs across Uganda. I deliver capacity building to our implementing partners on the inclusive nutrition curriculum and the mHealth digital app, Count Me In. I coordinate activities with stakeholders, conduct advocacy, and engage in policy efforts to push for inclusive programming across the health sector.
Background: I am a Public Health specialist with over 10 years of experience in maternal and child health, inclusive nutrition, and disability integration. I design and implement health projects, develop curricula, guidelines, and evidence-based training programs, and lead advocacy, capacity building, and partnerships to strengthen health systems and ensure equitable, sustainable nutrition outcomes for children. See my LinkedIn profile.
Why I SPOON: For me, disability chose me! Right out of university, I sought a position at a home for children with disabilities. I have found myself in inclusive roles throughout my career. It gives me joy to see children with disabilities thrive and their caregivers gain hope. I enjoy working with the SPOON team; everyone is passionate about these children. It makes work feel like real therapy.
