Tanya Kaanta

Tanya is a Korean adoptee with lived experience with malnourishment as an orphan. She is a former academic with a PhD in Sociology and an MS in Student Affairs. With 20 years in higher education, she supported students, taught sociology, and conducted research focused on education and adoptee identity. In 1999, Tanya returned to Korea to live and work, a pivotal experience that shaped her journey.

She is now the owner and Executive Director of The Ties Program, a company providing heritage travel experiences for adoptees and their families. She divides her time between Colorado and Panama with her partner, while their 2 college-aged children pursue their studies.
