Michele Meyer is Senior Vice President of General Mills and President of the Meals Operating Unit. Since 2007, Michele led the Small Planet Foods Division. During her tenure, SPF tripled in size, through strong core brand growth, the acquisition of Larabar in 2009, and the acquisition of Food Should Taste Good in 2012. Under Michele’s leadership, the division consistently grew top line and bottom line at double digits, exceeding its operating targets, and blazed a trail for GMI in the natural/organic space.
Previously Michele served as Vice President and Marketing Director in the Big G Cereal Division, as well as having led global marketing as VP of Cereal Partners Worldwide, General Mills’ joint venture with Nestlé, from 2001 – 2003. Over her 28 year career at General Mills, Michele has enjoyed a wide breadth of assignments and led multiple marketing and sales functions across the company, including Brands on the Go (Foodservice), International Marketing, Sales VP, as Head of the Merchant’s Consortium, and multiple brand assignments in cereal, snacks and new products. Her teams have received four Chairman’s Awards for outstanding performance, three Eagle Awards and numerous Gimmie advertising awards over the years. Meyer was promoted to vice president of the company in 1998.
Michele grew up in Tampa, Florida. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University, and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. Michele and her husband, Rich, as well as their two children reside in Deephaven, MN.
